Welcome to The Organic Centre course programme 2007
Gardening courses are still the most popular, and we have more this year, with even more emphasis on practical learning. Our goal is that more people will understand and use organic methods for home gardening and commercial growing. We believe that organic systems, that work with nature and promote biodiversity, are essential for our well-being and the health of the planet.
We are now offering three ëGarden Completeí courses based at the Organic Centre, in Co. Clare, and in Co. Wicklow. We have improved the quality of the courses and filled some gaps. The course on mushroom identification is back, and ëLiving the Good Lifeí is in its fourth year. We have new courses on garden design, companion planting, creating a wildlife pond, wild herbs and wild food, and organic gardening for primary schools. Other new courses include: building a micro hydro station, self-build, and for the very committed, a ëhumanureí workshop. The Grass Roof CafÈ offers many cooking courses.
Highlights in our events calendar are ëPermaculture Dayí which returns in July, and the Slow Food Weekend in August. The Organic Fair will move to an earlier slot in September and will open the North West Food Fest.
We want to encourage you to grow organically for your family, your local community, for your customers and farmers markets. We want to extend the network of people who care about the quality and safety of their food, and who care for the environment. You can help us by: becoming a Friend of the Organic Centre; gardening organically; volunteering your time; promoting the work of the Organic Centre amongst friends, colleagues and neighbours; sponsoring our activities
We very much look forward to seeing you at the Centre this year
